  COLORECTAL CANCER Colorectal cancer, also known as bowel cancer, colon cancer, or rectal cancer depending on where it starts, is a type of cancer that begins in the colon (large intestine) or the rectum. These cancers often start as benign polyps, which can over time develop into cancer. Regular screening is crucial as it can detect these polyps before they become cancerous.
